About the Studio
Why Asset.co is offered through PremiumBrands, and how Michael approaches names and online businesses.
PremiumBrands is where I bring selected domains together with enough context for a founder to consider what could be built on them. With Asset.co, the interest is in a word that already belongs in conversations about ownership. The opportunity is to connect that familiar word to a specific service people find useful, then give them a reason to come back.
Why this category interests me
Ownership creates ongoing work. Buildings need attention after the purchase. Equipment has a history after delivery. A collection becomes harder to understand when its records are scattered. What interests me about Asset.co is the range of practical problems around those responsibilities. The strongest use would start with one recognizable problem, rather than treating the name as permission to promise everything.
A founder looking at this domain might already understand a particular customer very well. That could be the person assembling property reports, the specialist documenting objects, or the household member trying to get receipts into order. I would want to hear which person the business is serving and what becomes easier for them. The name should support that explanation. It should not be expected to replace it.
That is also why the ideas on this site describe different directions separately. They are possibilities for a buyer to assess. They do not imply that I run those services or have specialist investment expertise. My interest here is in the connection between a useful name and a business somebody is prepared to build carefully.
My experience with Newswire.com
I acquired i-Newswire.com in 2007 and upgraded the business to Newswire.com in 2015. That progression is part of how I think about a domain that closely fits a company's identity. Newswire.com is a direct category name that can sit naturally beside the service being offered. Product, distribution and customer experience still require their own work.
Issuer Direct acquired the business for $44 million in 2022. The acquisition filing concerns a business transaction, not a sale price for the domain or a valuation of the name by itself. I keep that distinction clear because the history is useful context for my perspective, and it would be misleading to turn it into a promise about somebody else's purchase.
Today I offer selected domains through PremiumBrands.com. OnlineBusiness.com is the supporting strategy and development studio. The presentation is meant to help a buyer understand a name, consider its fit and start a direct conversation. It does not need a chain of different sellers or a long pitch before the buyer can ask a practical question.
Building with AI
I believe AI is making it easier for more people to turn an idea into working software, a website or a business tool. That changes where founders have to spend their attention. When a feature can be reproduced more readily, the harder work includes helping customers recognize the business, communicating an offer clearly and building relationships that last beyond the first visit.
A domain is one part of that work. It is the address somebody receives in an invitation and the name they look for when they return. In an ownership-record service, those moments could happen during an ordinary maintenance task or when an important document is suddenly needed. A clear address can support the brand in those moments, while reliable service has to justify the customer's confidence.
I do not read that as a guarantee that any particular domain will produce customers or increase in value. The buyer still has to choose a market, understand the people in it and deliver something worth using. My preference is to start with a name that fits the intended direction and then judge the business on the work it actually does.
Tell me what you have in mind
If Asset.co fits a business you are considering, the inquiry form is the next step. A short explanation of the intended use is enough to begin. Acquisition questions can focus on pricing and terms. A partnership proposal should describe what each side would contribute and how the idea would move forward. I review those conversations individually, with the aim of understanding the proposed fit before discussing the details.
